Dear Parents / Carers,
Changes are being made to the Food and Drink standards which all schools in Argyll and Bute will have to adhere to at lunchtimes and at all other times of the day. The changes are being made to improve the health of people in Scotland and will follow Scottish Government guidance relating to healthy eating and nutritional guidelines.
The changes are coming into effect on 8th April and will have an impact on the school meals that are provided from the start of the Summer Term on 19th April. A new four-weekly menu has been prepared for use by all schools in Argyll and Bute, and are below.
Some of the key changes to the nutritional requirements involve:
· Increasing fibre
· Reducing access to sugar
· Setting a maximum level for provision of red and red processed meat.
If you do have any questions or need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school or Lesley in the kitchen.
Kind Regards,
Richard Long
